Synergy

“My wall hanging “Synergy”, is based on the double helix. This work was commissioned by Biocon of Bangalore, India, one of the world’s leading biotech companies. The hues chosen were limited to those of the company’s corporate colour range of blues, violets, white, and silver. The background texture is hand sewn, overlaid with the finest quality of hand dyed organza silk.

The close harmony colours shift subtly across the surface of the piece. The double helix twists and turns, revealing a wealth of intricate machine embroidery detail. Colours, shapes, and surface texture come together to create a work of power and imagination, colourful but with strong graphic detail. There is a distinct feeling of movement within the piece, symbolizing the rapid progress that is a feature of the biotech world.
