The August Edition of Estila Magazine features the work of textile artist and designer Jilli Blackwood. Karolina Barnes, Editor-in-Chief of Estila Magazine, manages to discover many interesting details not usually voiced by the artist. Estila Magazine’s enquiring questions brings forth how Jilli likes to dress while in her studio and when presenting herself to the outside world, what her background is and how she started in the field of textile art.
Jilli is a very private person. On reading the article she was surprised by how much she had revealed of her artistic style, the way she works and the artists she admires. The article in Estila Magazine gives a deeper, broader, and more revealing picture of Jilli than anything that has gone before.
The beautiful photography accompanying the article was supplied by Jacquetta Clark, Gregor Reid and Debbie Pipe. We would like to thank the photographers for their attention to detail, capturing accurately the wonderful colours and textures in the embroidered works of art and in the “Art to Wear” pieces.
Jilli commented, “I hope you will enjoy reading this article which shines a little light into my background and reveals my private thoughts. I greatly enjoy reading about the lives of artists past and present: how they created work, presented themselves in the public eye, how they maintained their creativity throughout their lives and how they furthered their careers. I hope my own revelations will provide the readers of the Estila Magazine article with similar pleasure.”
